Several awards (27) were handed to Kingswood pupils who have participated in the Grahamstown Regional Eskom Expo for Young Scientists at assembly this week.

Dean Stephenson received a Gold Award for his project titled : Rural Ant-hills:  Economic opportunity or prophets of doom?.  Ross Shiel and Ryan Goldberg were awarded Silver for their project : Are solar panels the way to go?.  In addition they were awarded the Eskom Prize for the Best Energy Efficiency Project. 
 
Brandon Haschick was also awarded Silver for his project :The carbon footprint of carbonated beverages.
 
Dean, Brandon, Ross  and Ryan have been selected to be part of this region’s delegation to the National Finals of the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists to be held in Pretoria at the beginning of October. 
 
Also receiving a Silver Award with a project on Natual vs chemical fertilizer were Lauren Meyer and Jade Pote. 
 
Bronze awards were made to the following pupils :
 
Benjamin Strelitz and Kyle Marais : Awareness Tests
Andrew Pyle : Coating coins related to amount of current
Joshua Smuts : Do people associate colours with music?
Kaeleah Andrew and Jena Wrench : Hiccups
Shathani Libinda and Melinda Fenn : Is multitasking efficient with music playing?
Jeffrey Fuller and Daniel de la Harpe : Testing the temporal lobe of the cerebral cortex
Thapelo Teele : The  effects of different musical genres on a person's heartrate
 
Several pupils also received merit awards.
