Festive "In the Mood" concert for Hospice raises R8 700

Title : Festive "In the Mood" concert for Hospice raises R8 700
Date Added : 12th March 2010

The Kingswood College Music School has been associated with Grahamstown Hospice for several years now, so it was with great pleasure that the Concert Band performed in a concert to raise funds to support the work of Hospcie.  Being socially responsible is woven into the way we do music at the College.

On Friday 5 March the Kingswood College Concert Band got a capacity audience "In the Mood" in a festively decorated Foundation  Hall, with the help of some chees and wine. The hall was packed out with people having a seriously good time.  The Band played about two hours of light music – Pirates of the Caribbean, Abba, Grease, Rock ‘n Roll – no-one wanted the music to stop!

Thanks to our generous sponsors:  Naartjie and Cheryl Moss for the décor; the Vineyard and Pick ‘n Pay.  We raised R8 700.

David Barker from Grahamstown Hospice receives the cheque from Nicholas Smuts who is the Kingswood College Concert Band leader. Next to Nicholas is Michelle du Toit who had the idea to host a concert in a Cheese and Wine format. On the right is Mr Jon Trafford, Kingswood College Headmaster.  Below is the festively decorated hall with the Concert Band on the stage, ready for action.
