Title : Kingswood scientists win SciFest quiz!
Date Added : 30th March 2010

The Kingswood College team beat 16 other schools to take first prize at the SciFest High Schools Quiz last week, winning the team members each a year at Rhodes University to study science.  The Kingswood team, consisting of Ian Buchanan, Justin Moorcroft and Ross Ford easily made it into the finals where they competed against Graeme College, Victoria Girls' High School and Hudson Park.  Science teacher Caroline Crisp was delighted, saying that the boys got all their questions correct, and quickly gained points by answering questions that were passed on after the other schools couldn't supply answers.  "They were quite outstanding - it wasn't a nail-biter as they were clearly winning all the way" said Mrs Crisp.  Kingswood won the quiz last year as well when top Grahamstown matriculant Christopher Bradshaw was part of the team, with his fellow team mates, Peter Wrench and Michael Hatherley.  Hudson Park took second place, with VGHS taking 3rd and Graeme College the 4th place - a good result for Grahamstown considering that 3 of the top 4 schools are from the town.

The Kingswood Junior High School team (Grade 9s) took 2nd place in the Junior High School quiz.  Megan Timm, Jethro Thorburn and Michaela Bowker represented Kingswood at this level.

Serious scientists!  The Kingswood team that won the SciFest High Schools Quiz - Ross Ford, Justin Moorcroft and Ian Buchanan.
