Rain, mud, fences and fun! Another Kowie Dash completed.

Title : Rain, mud, fences and fun! Another Kowie Dash completed.
Date Added : 7th May 2010

Sixteen Kingswood pupils and 5 staff members recently braved rain, mud, lots of thorn bushes, electric and razor wire fences and huge seas to complete the now legendary Kowie Dash hike. The 80km trek from Hunts Hoek near Peddie on the Fish River to Port Alfred is led by Mr Tony Timm (who says every year that “this” is his last Dash, but returns to lead the hike again and again!). Some of the pupils do the Dash to fulfil the requirements of their Gold Level Presidents Award while others join the expedition voluntarily. Much fun is had by all despite the inevitable cold snap that seems to materialise each year during the Kowie Dash!

The intrepid hikers at the start of the Kowie Dash!

Tough terrain - walking along the Fish River

Tackling the fences - Mr Timm does the 'fence crawl'

An early start - sunrise on the beach

 Finally - Port Alfred
