KINGSWOODIAN CLUB GOLF DAY : 27 December 2015
The 15th annual Kingswood College Golf Day is scheduled to take place on Sunday 27 December 2015. Due to its popularity this has become one of the premier events on the Sunshine Coast calendar during the festive season. Please book early to avoid disappointment - all bookings to be done at the Royal Port Alfred Golf Club.
I would also like to encourage members of the Kingswood community to consider supporting this golf day by assisting with sponsorship. We need as much support as possible in order to raise the much-needed funds that contribute towards the smooth and effective running of the Kingswoodian Club.
BRING AND BRAAI: 20 September 2015
The annual get together of the Kingswoodian Club took place at the Ski Boat Club in Port Alfred today. Unfortunately the support was very disappointing which was unfortunate. Nevertheless those that attended had great fun around the braai fire - Tommy was in great form telling stories from yesteryear. He is still without a doubt our champion braai master.....

PORT ALFRED BRAAI : 21 July 2013
The annual Port Alfred branch bring and braai was held at the Ski Boat Club. The event was poorly supported but nevertheless it was a really special occasion because so many of our “senior” OKs came along. It is always great being able to share in the love and loyalty that they still have for their alma mater.

The Port Alfred branch of the OK Club hosted a Bring and Braai function at the lovely Umtunzi Bush Pub near Riet River on Sunday 05 June 2011. The gathering was well attended by about 50 OKs that represented a wide cross section of generations. A number of our oldest and most loyal OKs live in the Port Alfred area and it was very pleasing to see so many of them supporting this OK function – certainly sets a good example to the younger generation. There were a good many stories told of the days gone by and Edgar Turner (OK 1949 & ex member of staff) even volunteered to give us a Latin lesson! Edgar recently celebrated his 81st birthday. Another stalwart who was present and who needs no introduction was Tommy Hartzenberg – you can’t keep Tommy away from a braai can you? Tommy will be celebrating his 80th birthday this week and I am sure the entire Kingswood community will join me in wishing him a happy birthday and congratulate him on reaching this milestone. Tommy’s loyalty and unselfish service to Kingswood throughout his life has been unbelievable and much appreciated by all.
The College Head, Jon Trafford and the Chairman of Council, Di Hornby were both at the function. The support for the OK Club from senior management at Kingswood is much appreciated. Once again Branch Chairman Warrick Strachan and his able committee put together a successful OK function. The weather was perfect and the venue really suited the occasion.

The Port Alfred Branch of the OK Club held a very successful family day on the 6 June at Greenfountain Farm, just out of PA. The weather played its part and a group of close to 60 Oks, Staff & parents, together with their kids, enjoyed a very social bring and braai in the balmy winter warmth of the Eastern Cape.
We greatly appreciated the effort made by OKs and staff from Grahamstown who joined us and it was a great opportunity for us to welcome the new vice=principal (Student Affairs), Mr David Schenk, his wife Lynn, and sons Jonathan,Matthew,Nicholas and Timothy, to the Lower Albany.
The venue allowed kids of all ages to have plenty of space to run around , play touch rugby , jump on the trampoline, play table tennis and pool. The venue also allowed folk to stand around the braai fires and as one senior OK put it " to mingle with a suitable glass in hand". Fortunately no Purdon's fell into the swimming pool!
It was a great pleasure to see Keith Knight (1945) & Maurice Bradfield (1946) catch up with each other after many intervening years, yet Keith lives at Kasouga & Maurice at Settlers Park, Port Alfred just 20 min away.
The day also provided a wonderful opportunity for a number of prospective parents to experience the warmth of the Kingswood family and we trust they and their children will have a long, happy and fruitful association with Kingswood.
Many thanks to all who attended and contributed to a most enjoyable day.

OK GOLF DAY
27 December 2009
Once again this event was a huge success. The first of the 281 golfers that participated teed off at 05h00 in perfect conditions for golf. The westerly wind picked up at midday but by the time the last covey teed off at 14h55 the wind had died down again and conditions were absolutely perfect for golf. This is indeed an incredible event that has indeed become a fixture in many diaries. I am not sure that many “bigger” golf days take place in the Eastern Cape. Many holiday makers who do not play in the golf day turn up for the after party which attracts in the region of 250 people. What makes this a really special occasion is the fact that we have so much support from past pupils from so many other schools for which we are indeed very grateful.
The organization of a day like this is a huge team effort. I am not going to single out anybody but would like to thank all those that contributed to making this day the success that it was. A day like this cannot take place without the generosity of our sponsors and once again they came to the party – we really do appreciate their support.
The champion golfers for the day were Dallas Lloyd, Ross Lloyd, Glynn Purdon and W Riley. William Fowlds had the distinction have scoring a hole-in-one on the 13th hole – the first time in the 9 years that we have held this golf day. The day is not, however, all about results – we try to ensure that all participants enjoy their day by having a whole lot of fun.
The 2010 OK Club golf day will be held at the Royal Port Alfred Golf Club on Monday 27 December. The booking sheet is open at the golf club so please book early to avoid disappointment. The phone number at the golf club is 046-6244796.
