ADDING VALUE TO YOUR
SCHOOLING
A great number of
school leavers are either undecided about their future careers or are not quite
ready for tertiary education. They recognise the need to bridge the gap between
Grade 12 and “life after school”.
The Kingswood College Bridging Year attempts to do just that by equipping young
men and women with skills that will add value to their prior education, thereby
better preparing them for the future.
It is our intention that by the end of their Bridging Year, students will be
closer to finding their focus or purpose in life.

Kingswood College, a co-educational independent Methodist boarding school, accommodating pupils from Pre-Primary to Bridging Year, was founded in 1894. It offers a first-rate, broad education that attracts a large percentage of foreigners to complement its Eastern Cape pupils who are in a majority at the College. Senior and junior pupils develop wonderful relationships within a school that is purposefully small for educational, pastoral and practical reasons. The distinguished careers of its Past Pupils (OKs) not only add luster to the institution but also serve to inspire its current pupils.
The class is limited to 20 students. Boarders are accommodated in Houses for boys and girls, under the supervision of staff and ‘stooges’ who ensure that students are provided with a caring and safe environment. The students normally dress in civilian clothing and are expected to involve themselves in the College’s sporting and cultural programme, as well as participate in our Integrated Community Development Programme. They attend all Senior School Assemblies and Chapel Services. |

Your choices. Your chances. Your move… |

The BY curriculum has a significant Life Skills
component that is comprised of a wide range of modules. The modules are chosen
from the following list which includes the opportunities for adventure-based
outdoor education. While the College does not commit itself to presenting all of
these modules every year, this will be dependant on time constraints and the
availability of suitable presenters. Each student will however learn a wide
range of life skills each term and parents will receive an indication in a
termly report of the modules that their children have completed.
