Date Added : 2010-03-16

In a remarkable game of cricket played at Fairlawn Field on Saturday the Kingswood U13A team defeated St Andrews Prep by 49 runs. Kingswood, after winning the toss and deciding to bat, were quickly in trouble losing their first two wickets in a great first over bowled by Grant Dixie. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals and Kingswood were in serious trouble at 76 for 8 when number 10 Joshua Christie joined Bradley Wilmot at the crease. These two set about repairing the damage with some very intelligent and aggressive batting and put on a brilliant 139 for the ninth wicket. Wilmot scored his maiden century finally being run out for 101 (off 83 balls) and Christie ended on 52 not out when Kingwood were eventually dismissed for 215 runs.

St Andrews started off well and while Bruce Philips was at the crease, were always in with a chance. He was eventually dismissed for a well-played 86 and the St Andrews lower order then offered very little resistance. They were finally all out for 166. Best bowler for Kingswood was Michael Pyle who claimed 4 wickets for 31 in a good spell of medium in swing. He was ably supported by Jarod van Blerk, taking 3 wickets for 16.
