Title : A bruising encounter - KC 1st XV vs Port Rex
Date Added : 2010-05-17

Port Rex and Kingwood College 1st rugby teams clashed at Kingswood’s City Lords in Grahamstown over the weekend in a bruising, physical encounter. Kingswood dominated the first half with their forwards creating a good platform for their exciting backs to run off. An astute tactical change at half time saw the Port Rex team utilising their strong forwards much more effectively in the second half and they employed the ‘pick and drive’ around the edges of the rucks with good results. Kingswood were guilty of giving away too many penalties during the match which kept the motivated Port Rex team in the game, but managed to scores some superb tries by doing the basics well and running hard and straight with ball in hand. Kingswood ran out the eventual winners 44 – 5 with fullback, Scott van Breda scoring a hat trick of tries.
