Report:

In a very frustrating game, Kingswood were unable to convert pressure and opportunities into goals. The result was then even more frustrating, as VP scored towards the end of the game to clinch victory. However, the signs of improved play, are obvious and they simply now need to put it all together. There are far too many clichés about possession and territory not winning games. The team who puts that ball into the back of the opposition net the most times, obviously wins the match.

Kingswood had a great first half, showing complete domination, but didn’t get on the scoreboard. The second half, saw VP turn things around a bit and put in a good performance. They managed to build more attacks and this paid off as they scored with 6 minutes left in the game. They scored again, with a few seconds on the clock, which left the final result 2-0 in their favour.

It was a disappointing result for our 1st XI, and they again, will look back on the match thinking ‘we should have done better’. The highlight of the game from Kingswood’s performance, was without doubt better control and distribution around the back four. The midfield probably did well to create entries into the circle, but not many of these ended up with a shot on goal; surely our focus in the next training session and game. We again conceded soft goals, which is still a concern – especially since the defence and midfield had played so well to prevent VP from entering the circle in the first half.
