Report:
All the good efforts of last week seemed to be forgotten as we played a very rushed game of hockey against Dale. The game itself was not a great spectacle and will only be remembered by both teams because of so many missed opportunities.
The first half saw Kingswood have complete domination, but didn’t have too many shots on target to show for it. There were plenty of circle entries and shots (off target), but the decision making and composure seemed lacking at the last moment. Interestingly, this turned around in the second half with Dale having far more possession and chances. Again neither team, took their clear chances to win the game. Both goal-keepers stood out on occasions in desperate defence but the deadlock was eventually broken when Mziyanda Mangi scored on the counter-attack. It took Dale though, 2 minutes to equalise and the scores stayed level for the last few minutes of the game.
They say you learn more from a loss or a draw, than you do from a win. Our video analysis session revealed a lot to learn from. Turn-over of possession and rushed tempo were probably the key areas to look at.
The next fixture, is against a quality Stirling side in East London. I know the boys will bounce back after they were not happy with their performance against Dale. Saying that, it probably is nice to still get a draw as the result, even though you were not happy with the performance on the day.
