The Kingswood 1^st XI ended a poor run of form with a hard fought victory over Queenstown Girls High School (GHS)  in Grahamstown on Saturday. The game started at a frantic pace with both teams struggling to maintain possession in midfield. Alisha Gathercole ended off a well-worked counterattack to give Kingswood the lead midway through the first half. GHS launched a number of good attacks in retaliation to the goal, but lacked the final touch to put the ball in the back of the net. While Kingswood dominated in midfield, the GHS defense stood firm which allowed them to counterattack and come close to equalizing on a numerous occasions. The Kingswood girls held onto the lead and another outstanding performance by Abigail Branford in goals ensured victory for Kingswood by a solitary goal.

Talyla Biggs, who played her 50th match for the Kingswood 1st Girls Hockey team last week aims for a goal in the match against Queenstown Girls High School on Saturday.
