1st XI Cricket Result
Kingswood vs Union High School
Venue: Kingswood, Gane Field Date: 16 January 2010
Toss Won By: Kingswood, and asked Union to bat.
Format: Declaration, minimum of 110 overs.
Union struggled to get going on a damp rack, which was a result of rain seeping
underneath the covers. However, a good middle order partnership saw them reach a competitive total of 145 all out.
Greg Evans and Scot van Breda bowled well upfront, but it was probably Jason
Davidson’s over, in which he claimed three wickets, which restricted Union to a score below 150. Mziyanda Mangi claimed his first wicket for the first team as he knocked over the tail, in his short spell, claiming 2 wickets for three runs. Davidson ended up with 3 for 16.
Kingswood went into to bat, confident of chasing a lowish total, but some poor shot
selection and good tight bowling put the home side in a very precarious position.
Batters looked good for brief moments, but then managed to get themselves out. Only Nicholas Gailey stood his ground and although he did not beat his best score, his knock of 65 not out, was surely one of his best so far. Mziyanda Mangi contributed bravely in a 9th wicket partnership of 38 runs, which eventually took Kingswood to victory by two wickets.
Summary of Scores:
Union 145 all out.
Jason Davidson 3 for 19

Neil Hornbuckle 2 for 44
Kingswood 146 for 8
Nicholas Gailey 65 not out
